Information

Nazareth Ice Oasis Youth Hockey Program offers children and young adults the training, feedback, and encouragement needed to help them acquire skill, learn game fundamentals, and achieve their personal best. Our goal is to give your child a safe, positive and enjoyable hockey experience instilling a love of the sport and skills that will enable them to play hockey into adulthood. Find out more about our philosophy.

Eligibility

Open to children ages 5 to 17 - with or without prior hockey experience - the program organizes players into 4 teams for each of 4 skill & age - based divisions. Players may be promoted to higher age brackets after an assessment by the Hockey Director.

Divisional Play

Divisional play includes one 1-hour practice and game each week. Practice sessions cover skill building drills and scrimmages. Each team has a coach and assistant coach. In addition to individualized feedback the program promotes good sportsmanship and personal growth as youths transition into adulthood. Games are conducted in 15-minute periods and are refereed by one or two officials. Play is competitive but open ice checking is not allowed instead, these teams learn rubout techniques.

Hockey Clinics, Family Fun

In addition to regular games players are encouraged to participate in hockey clinics which are held during spring and summer holidays. Clinic cost is included in program cost.

Fun activities such as family skate and bbq are held at the end of the season and during winter holidays.

Tournaments & Out of League Play

Players can participate in tournaments hosted at the rink during holiday breaks for a nominal fee. The club also arranges for games against other rink teams in Northern California and Nevada to build skills, increase competitive play and have fun.

Finally, we participate in tournaments. One of these is the Minnesota International Cup in Blaine, Minnesota a suburb of Minneapolis. This AAA level event gives players a chance to see what it's like to be with (other) hockey crazy people and to participate in highly competitive play. Costs include airfare, hotel, chaperone and entry fees. A minimum of 5 games are played over 3 days.

Costs & Sign Up

All players must be Nazareth Ice Oasis Club members. The annual cost of membership is $225. The Youth Program fee is $1,650 and entitles players to year round play and hockey clinics. In addition to regular team practices, games and final tournament the Ice Oasis program offers other organized events to build skills, increase competitive play and have fun. These include holiday and summer vacation tournaments and clinics, games against other ISI rink teams in Northern California and Nevada and parent vs. kid's hockey games.
